I’m writing to you requesting your assistance in a local program that is run by the Massachusetts State Police in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Each year the State Police barracks hosts a Christmas party for economically challenged families in the area. The majority of the children are from the New Bedford Boys and Girls Club, as well as, a local shelter. These families would otherwise have nothing for their children on Christmas morning. The event is accomplished by the charity of the Troopers themselves and those that are fortunate enough to know about this event.
If you are lucky enough to have children you know the joy that you see on their faces come Christmas morning. Imagine a childhood without the magic of the holiday season. Well, these hardworking Troopers have seen this poverty and have done something about it. Won’t you please help them in their effort to make Christmas for these families?
My Father (deceased) a former State Police Captain used to assist the State Police in this effort. Since his death I’ve been trying to step in for my Dad.
Please let me know if you need any further information in order for you to help. We are seeking clothing and toys for these misfortunate children. Children in the 9 years old to 14 years old are in most need of assistance.
Additionally, the event planners will have silent auction items, as well as, raffles prior to the event. All of the proceeds from the silent auction and raffle items are used to buy items for the children or provide food for the event. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Debbie Gross-Simonds
